When “Shift” Happens

Shift Happens. Our client (and quarterback) at Pony Up Ranch exemplified this motto and memorialized his Paradigm Shifts with T-shirts printed for the entire design and build team. Often, first thing Monday morning and sometimes after a long night (or weekend) of deliberation, he would stand out near the job site as the crews were just arriving, and announce for all to hear that there had been a “paradigm shift” in his thinking.

One of these shifts occurred early in the project. Steve and Tom were standing down by the creek at a sharp bend where high, rushing water was eroding the stream’s bank. After putting together a restoration plan utilizing large boulders backed by a strong geogrid under layer, we brought the owner down to review the solution. Standing together on the site, we all looked at each other and realized this was one of the most spectacular places on the property, a view looking directly upstream at the creek and never experienced by the owner in previous years at the ranch!   Right then and there we decided to share this experience with the rest of the team and put the wheels in motion.

Every shift happened for a good reason, and the entire team remained flexible and fully committed during each change of plans.
